About
My life proves that order can indeed come from chaos. At the age of 24, I divorced my (ex) Baptist minister husband and began working toward my new goals. Life is still crazy sometimes, with a fiance husband in law school, a 2-year old 3-year old daughter, trying to keep things civil with the ex, and just keeping my head above water. But overall, I love my life, and wouldn’t trade it for anything.
As for basics, my name is Laura, and I live in Northwest Arkansas. I have ADD, so you never know what I am going to do or say next. In the education department, I have a psychology degree and some graduate work in Counseling. Currently, I am trying to work on pre-requisites for medical school and with some Spanish mixed in. (I figure I will be about retirement age before I am ready to start my career!) I am also the LR Atheist Examiner columnist, which is fun.
It is challenging raising my daughter jointly with a family who has very different ideas about religion. I am figuring it all out as I go along.
So that’s who I am, but what do I write about? My blog focuses on the emotional journey of leaving fundamentalist Christianity behind, what it was like to be a minister’s wife, what life is like today in the aftermath, and issues concerning women without an organized religion. I tell it the way I see it (which is not usually a euphemism for “I’m a total bitch”) no matter how hard it is for me to do so, whether it’s about my own struggles and shortcomings or the struggles and shortcomings of others.
