New Comment Policy

Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010

Or a couple of new rules anyways. I like my old comment policy, but some things are getting out of hand. From today forward:

No more lumping all atheists or all religious people into one category. It’s okay if it’s an accident, but no more saying “no Christians X” or “all atheists X” in a way that’s derogatory or offensive. You know what I mean. :)

Three strikes and you’re out. If you violate the comment policy once, I will simply remove the comment. Twice, comment moderation will be turned on for you, and the third time, you will be permanently banned. (Note: sometimes comments get held in spam if you write too many links or sometimes just randomly. If your comment gets held, it doesn’t mean you’re warned. If you have questions, feel free to ask.)

What about spankings? Can we get spankings?

(Remember the castle Sir Lancelot found filled with women in “The Holy Grail”?)

  2. Laura Says:

Well, if you were deprived of spankings as a child. . . but I’ve had enough and I don’t believe in corporal punishment, so they will have to be self inflicted. :D

Well I have a blog where everyone and anyone is welcome to undertake whatever: over-generalizations, clichés and stereotypes they see fit … I could really use the comment juice.

I don’t even delete DM’s death threats or spam from that lady trying to sell me fake Viagra.

Just don’t preface it with: “I really wanted to say this over at Laura’s blog but she wouldn’t let me ….” Be creative.

I am going to go out on a limb and say that Reverend Z won’t make it to 5 comments before being banned!

I so want to start a pool! It is, after all, Superbowl betting season, you know, the high holiday for the secular?

Sorry to be so pessimistic. I can’t help it that my hateful evil negative feelings are speaking, since I don’t feel the lurve of the only true god! (sarcasm off)

I think that ship has sailed… I saw a denny comment in this very thread earlier and now it’s gone. I think Denny used all 3 strikes in one shot!

    Reading comprehension FAIL!

I just re-read the rules and it seems that the first strike results in deletion of said comment. This explains denny’s comment going AWOL. I guess denny has 2 more strikes.

So I’ll take that bet Rex – I’ll say exactly 3 comments to get denny banned, only 2 more to go…

Personally I rather appreciate the ambiguity of my comment policy which ultimately boils down to “don’t irritate me too much.” Thus far the only bans have been on people who have an irritating propensity towards commenting about their pet issue on posts that have nothing to do with it and people who are overtly bigoted one too many times. I also tend to delete comments by “anonymous,” when there is no other identifier – or outright spam.

The only other deletion, was the gentleman who posted (in four or five comments due to size limitations) a very long rant about virtually every “conspiracy” that one can imagine – except for the “conspiracy” that was the subject of the post. Nearly five thousand words and not a one of them about HIV/AIDS denialism, which was the relevant topic…Though I did learn three fascinating and completely contradictory “theories” about what really happened on 9/11…

Depending on your proximity to a reasonably sized urban center, I am sure you can look in the phone book for someone who will not only spank you, but will also go into great detail about what a very naughty person you are…

  8. mlee Says:

Well, evidently there are no Hardcore Monty Python fans here. In the scene I was referring to, the Queen of all-girl castle begins meting orders for the presence of the handsome knight.

Trust me, it’s funny… Laugh dang you!!

  9. mlee Says:

Oh, and it was sir GALAHAD and the Castle Anthrax

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DtcSYPjJbgg

    Bad memory.. here.

  10. charon Says:

    “GALAHAD”

Course it was. I bet Launcelot was gay ;)

  11. Leanne Says:

The musical “Spamalot” actually has a whole song about Lancelot being gay…

“His name is Lancelot, he likes to dance a lot, and wears tight pants a lot…”

I thought it was funny because in most Arthurian legends, good old Lance is most decidedly hetero [a little too hetero for his own good at times!]…

    Carry on, then :)
