The ayes have it! When I asked if anyone would be interested in starting a forum with the interests of women without religion in mind, I created a poll. I decided if I could get five people interested after a week of polling, I would start it. I got 18 yeses in under 24 hours, so it’s a go!

Verite is French for “truth.” I am going for an atmosphere where we can share what we really think and feel without having to worry about someone lecturing you on how to be a better Christian (or what have you).

Some questions that have already been asked/I know I’m going to get:

1. Can men join?

Yes! My husband who couldn’t be paid to comment on my blog is actually pretty excited about a forum. He says he is a forum person, not a comment person. I won’t discriminate. The idea is to get something that is geared for the needs of women, because there just isn’t a lot out there. Most well known female atheist and other nonreligious bloggers tend to focus on the same issues men do. Not this forum. I think it may be appealing to some men who have families. Family resources are another scant area for the nonreligious, and while I’ve tried to create it so you don’t have to have a family or children to have an outlet, there is a place for those who do have families, too. It seems as if most seculars I know are college students or retirees. I know secular families exist, there just aren’t many places for them. Here’s one!

2. How will Redheadedskeptic.com be different?

It won’t. I am not planning on changing my content. I know I’ve written a lot of more technical posts over the last week, but that is just because of the site makeover. Things should settle down within the week, and it will be back to one post per day with the content you’re used to.

3. Can Christians or people with other religious affiliations join?

Of course! But we do ask that you don’t use it to proselytize. If you want to share the awesome things Christ has done in your life, stick to the comments or find another forum. There are many people who have left fundamentalism who are looking for community, but haven’t necessarily left the faith. You’re more than welcome, too!

Anything else, leave a comment. Click on the picture below to get to the forum, where you can create your profile and get to posting!
