What Is Women's Fascination With Christianity?
Wednesday, November 4th, 2009
It’s really a pretty raw deal unless you are part of the more liberal congregations. Most of the quotes are from generations past, but those attitudes are still quite prevalent in Baptist, Pentecostal, Assembly of God, and other nondenominational churches.
Why do women buy into it? Why the fervor, the passion, for something so misogynistic? I ask myself the same questions: why did I buy into it? For me, it’s how I was raised, but when I was old enough to think it through for myself, I got out fast. It’s fear, I think, primarily. Be good and submissive now and live happily for all eternity, or defy a masculine God and risk hell. I know leaving was the most terrifying thing I have ever done.
