An Embarrassing Confession

Thursday, October 16th, 2008

In the election of 2004, I voted for Bush. Why, might you ask, would I do such a thing? In a nutshell, he was pro-life. That was it. The only reason. 4 years later, I realize his reign was not exactly pro-life. Anti-abortion, maybe, but anti-abortion is not necessarily pro-life. Pro-life, to me, encompasses more than that. It is pro-life all around, whether it is for soldiers, foreigners, criminals, or children, and possibly even animals, depending on how far you want to take it. To me, though, it is a philosophy overall of life being precious, a gift, not something that someone can choose to end regardless of who and how.

My views on abortion have changed some since then, though I still consider myself pro-life overall (more on my exact views later). But I am embarrassed to have voted for a Presidential candidate based solely on one issue that he had little control over. I will, hopefully, not make the same mistake ever again! :)
